As such, I feel that I cannot recommend "Brothers in Arms - Earned in Blood. I have stored the game away for now and may return to try to get it working at a later date. It took me two days to sort the problems out and get my my computer working again. I didn't do either of these and the game "crashed" when I tried to run it. It can be made to work but one has to download a risky "No CD patch" or mess about with the setting on one's computer. I have discovered (via various games players on the Internet) that this particular "disc based" game will NOT work on many computers - no matter which version of Windows one has installed. (and I already have the two previous Brothers in Arms games - Road to Hill 30, and Hell's Highway - which work perfectly). I could not get the game to work on my new computer (even though I'd got Windows 7 installed. It was very, very good value for money! But, (and it is a BIG but!). Bought a new computer three years ago, and decided to buy this game again. I mislaid the game when we moved house five years ago. The core series consisting of the first-person shooters Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 (2005), Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood (2005), and Brothers in. I used to play "Brothers in Arms - Earned in Blood" on an older computer. Fifty bucks is a lot to spend on what is essentially a large expansion pack but, short of the first game, you won't find a more authentic or original tactical action game.Great game - if you can get it to work without crashing your computer! The mechanics of this game are unique and enjoyable enough that I dove enthusiastically right into the sequel. Furthermore, it fails to address the fundamental discontinuity of building believable characters and then making their deaths irrelevant. The greater flexibility of the AI and the new multiplayer options are certainly welcome additions, but the game still feels, as Charles said of the Xbox version, more like Brothers in Arms v1.5 than a full sequel. Still, Earned in Blood is only an incremental improvement on the original. For those of us who found satisfaction in the game's authentic presentation and sophisticated tactical battles, Earned in Blood offers another chance to jump into the boots of an airborne soldier in Northern France. In fact, if you aren't craving an experience almost exactly like the first Brothers in Arms, you can definitely pass on Earned in Blood. There's really nothing here to win them over. Some PC shooter fans were decidedly unimpressed with the original game. play Road to Hill 30 first as it gives the story background that you need. This game is usually super cheap too, so for that reason I would genuinely recommend it but be prepared to get a little frustrated with it from time to time and the janky controls! Also. The graphics have held up fairly well too and I really do like that it fully supports modern hardware and widescreen without any required tinkering (at least on my PC). I also have to credit the game for trying to do something different with the combat, even if compared to more modern games it is stiff and cumbersome. My favourite being the defence sequence in Hedgerow Hell as it really felt like we were finally beginning to tip the scales of the battle ever so slightly. However, the story makes you genuinely care about the characters and some of the action sequences make it really quite intense. The squad based mechanics are also a little stale after a while and I think the game would have benefited greatly at the time if you could issue commands from the 'V' menu which provides a better overview of the battlefield. The gun play can be absolutely mind numbing at times, mainly due to the way that the aiming swirls around chaotically in a figure of 8 and the actual iron sights themselves are chonky boys which don't always really show you where you are shooting. In 2005 we really didn't see many shooters with slick controls and so out of fairness I will assess it with that in mind. 7h 38m PlayedI think that it's important to give this game the benefit of the doubt in that it is old.
